American Roommate Imposes Tariff on Shared Grocery E-Transfer

Clare Mooney

Canadians are in distress in light of recent tariff threats made by the American government. These tariffs have the potential to greatly increase the price of American goods, making an impact on the day-to-day of the Canadian public. While this will effect all residents of Canada, regardless of their nationality, some Americans living in Canada have taken the opportunity to introduce their own taxation systems.

Justice Prudo, an Ontario native, has been charged a “tariff” on a joint grocery bill by his own roommate, Ronald Crump. Prudo bravely commented on the situation,

”He claims that because he went and picked up the groceries, he’s deserving of an ‘import tax’ of 25% on all of the products he purchased. We split the groceries like every week, and I dragged back like three twelve packs of Fuze iced tea last week. If anything, it’s me that deserves the extra money.”

The feud between the roommates has escalated highly over the course of a few weeks, resulting in somewhat of a bidding war between Prudo and Crump. Prudo has offered what he has referred to as “increased border security,” which limits the amount of women that he is allowed to bring home.

This agreement has allowed the tariffs to be withheld for at least thirty days, or at least until after reading week.
