The Eras Tour has arrived, and no one is more excited than our own Archaeology Department here at the University of Toronto. Some students are more excited, especially for particular portions of the performance. After we approached student Robin Tombes for an interview, he said he “Couldn't wait for Taylor to get on stage and do what she does best”. When further questioned, he said “well, of course, her songs on her new research! What research? Well, her discovery of a new handaxe industry in the Paleolithic period! It’s the Eras tour, you dummy! Haven’t you heard?”
Tombes noted how he couldn't wait to listen to top hits such as “I Knew You Were Rubble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting (Lithics) Back Together". He also described his admiration for Taylor’s lyrical layers, and excitement at getting what he called “Swiftie Artifacts”, such as Stanleys and friendship bracelets.
Tombes expressed his disappointment to us when he heard of the news that Queen Street would be changed to Taylor Swift Way. “At least they could have changed it to something more relevant, like Australopithecus Afarensis. Sure, she’s great, but they’re not giving the people what they want.”
