“Ask Me Anything” Tent Worker Unable to Answer if Parents’ Divorce was Student’s Fault

As the orange oak tree leaves begin to make their way to campus with the start of autumn, so do the orange shirts. Students may notice the “Ask Me Anything” workers stationed under gazebos around campus to help guide first-year students (and uninformed fourth-years). These beacons of knowledge and wisdom advertise that you can “ask them anything.” However, nowhere in their advertising does it say, “We’ll answer anything.”

Typically, questions range from “What’s UofT time?” to “What’s the best place to eat at Victoria College?” (spoiler - somewhere else). However, one first year asked a more difficult question. “Am I the reason that my parents got divorced?” was the hardball question thrown to tent worker, Christopher Moltisanti. “I was a little thrown off, not going to lie,” reported Chris. “I panicked a bit, and told the student ‘probably.’ They told me they were a Rotman Commerce student, so it’s likely that I wasn’t that far off.”

Because of how Chris handled the question, there has been a discussion of whether he would have his orange badge revoked. “Answering questions in a straightforward way is a serious infringement of the Orange Oath that all Ask Me Anything workers swear to. It was my error to break that.”
